THE OLIVER, assemblage, 2013, detail view
1
I am Chicago based artist and painter. Circus sideshows, outdated mechanical objects, and sentimental souvenirs from past eras
are favorite subjects. I've shown locally at many venues including
The Harold Washington Library, Chicago Cultural Center, and the
Bridgeport Arts Center. Nationally, from Washington DC's outsider gallery
Art Enables to The Venice Beach Freak Show in Los Angeles.
In 2017, I spent a month as a resident artist at NES, in Skagastrond,
Iceland, a country I'd recommend visiting for it's inspiring beauty.
In 2016, I was part of K-Fest in Killorglin, Co. Kerry, Ireland.
It's a wonderful festival where the entire town turns it's abandoned
spaces into art galleries, theater, poetry, and music venues.
I make my living as a union scenic painter for film, television, opera,
theater, museum, and commercial spaces. A biology major in college
with an eye on zoology, I took a theater stagecraft class as a creative
outlet. I was much better with a paint brush than a table of elements.
My love of animals still can be seen in much of my personal work.
Have a look around my galleries, and don't hesitate to contact me.
